In the Face of the Faceless Enemy : Terrorism

Dated 29th November,2008...

With chaotic expressions of tumultuous emotions emanating from the volcanoes wthin people suffering from the latest Mumbai terror attacks, the havoc is totally justified. As for my part,I have been feeling extremely frustrated and helpless ever since I have been watching these trained 18-22 yr olds perform their live circus of gunning,bombing,blasting..reminding of my little days with the G.I.Joe's..My little mind could have never thought of this kind of large scale destruction with those little plots projected to the real, actual world..G.I.Joe? Me?..lol..yes,sometimes..! I didn't have them,I played with a few which my cousins had..they were a group of pretty horribly violent peeps!
So,with so many people writing so may different things about the same situation, what else have I got to say? I have atleast so much to say that in a nation like ours, where we don't take the responsibility to vote for the elections and the politicians are chosen by 70% of India's illiterate population, most of them being brainwashed and swayed, time and again,by sweet words, glamorous images and false promises,we have little right to complain. But,where our woes do take on a righteous cover is when we watch the Chief Minister of our state take his 'dear actor son' alongwith director Ram Gopal Verma to tour the target site at the Taj Mahal Hotel as the first opening visit by the panel of ministers.Think of it!! WOW!!! The first visit by the panel of ministers is all about *making a film on terrorism*...Curse my spirit..Now,why didnt I think of this? How could my wretched soul be so unimaginative,so screamingly selfish that *I DIDN'T THINK OF MAKING A FILM* with a nice tourist-like tour at the target site, for *first-hand experience* just hours after the unfathomable occurred?... Like,seriously..it might have been less of a crime if he'd gone along wid his stupid self and the director..that would take the cake, but the CM's son tagging along like a puppy for some fleshy movie role as meat, takes the bakery. Like, now if he really did want some first hand experience,he could've very well been present *atleast in the vicinity* of the area of the bombings...Now I have reasons for not watching RGV's films other than them being so lousy...Now,come to consider this..the reporters present at the very site giving us the entire footage for four entire daysmwith minimal rests weren't allowed in there...what the hell???!

Dated 6th December,2008... exactly a week later.
The honking sounds outside my window, the sun peeping through the clouds just like it did last week,at this time..as if nothing ever happened.Have I forgotten as well? Fortunately or unfortunately,yes..I have forgotten the frustration I felt last week.I have also totally 'ostriched' my behaviour by not taking a look at the news..thinking it never happened, this was the last and will never happen again. It doesn't feel much, may be I've numbed myself.May be most of us have numbed ourselves. We're also back to petty fights, silly ego matters and the whole drama..I sound like such a philosopher..lol..But,does 'ostriching' mean I'm not taking any action to be more alert/aware/cautious? No eyes on how the security on Mumbai should be upgraded? That's exactly what I am doing.Ignoring the entire thing.May be it's all a defense mechanism,or just a stress reaction..And again, there are vivid images of nuclear wars and destruction, with the fear looming all over, thinking of the misunderstandings between two parties. It's the most pathetic feeling in the world-helplessness..It'd be totally crazy of me to take sides now, because all we want is peace. That's it.You're right?I'm right? Both right? Both wrong? Who ****ing cares?..I'm pretty sure it won't matter much when the whole world has been blasted away and all new babies born out of the handful of survivors are radiation mutated...Is Nostradamus' prediction coming true?! ..funny I should think of him..probably all the news channels and mags are talking about it anyway...! All of us are caught totally off guard, you feel like you're falling into a bottomless well...black,dark,ugly..when for everything else,we all could have the butterflies, the fragrant flowers, the mellow sunshine, the green meadows outside....
My thoughts are as choppy as S H R E D D E D carrots..! lol... May be I'll just whistle and have a nice walk around the corner..

I love folklore............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Longest Place Name in the World by KMD Pics.
The strangely beautiful Rangipo Desert is a volcanic wilderness of lava flows and tussock grass.

Taumata, the hilltop with the world’s longest place name
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapiki-maungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu is the longest place name in the world. It is the name given by the local Maori people, Ngati Kere to a hill to celebrate the eponymous ancestor Tamatea Pokai Whenua.
(c.A.D. 1350).Legendary traveller.

Tamatea was a famous chief and warrior of his time. His son Kahungunu was the founder of the Ngati Kahungunu tribe which extends from Gisborne to Cape Palliser.
Tamatea acquired his long name through different happenings in his life.

Tamatea-Pokai-Whenua was born in Hawaiki in the period before the Great Migration. He was the son of Rongokako and a descendant of the legendary Maui. He came to New Zealand in the Takitimu canoe but left it at Turanga (Gisborne) and travelled overland, keeping close to the coast, until he reached Ahuriri. There, according to the legend, his pet crocodile, Tapu-Te-Ranga, escaped. From Ahuriri he continued towards the Ruahines, but his son, Kahungunu, was unwilling to cross them and returned to settle on the Heretaunga Plains. Tamatea continued his journey until he reached a high mountain, where another of his pets, the serpent, Pohokura (or Pukeokahu), escaped. When he reached the Moawhango River Tamatea plunged the brands from his fire into the waters, where they became taniwhas (spirits) and may be seen to this day. As he walked along the beach towards Wanganui, his dog ran into the sea and became a taniwha. Shortly before he reached the pa at Wanganui, Tamatea paused to dress his hair. From this circumstance, the place became known as Putiki-waranui-a-Tamatea or Tamatea's top-knot. He paddled up the Wanganui River until he reached Omaka, where there proved to be no anchorage. Tamatea therefore bent one of the rocks in the river and tied his canoe's anchor cable about it. He reached Lake Taupo and paddled his canoe across it to the Waikato River, but lost his life shortly afterwards when he tried to shoot the Huka Falls. It appears that while travelling through the back of Porangahau, Tamatea encountered the Ngati-Hine tribe and had to fight them to get past. The battle is known as the Matanui battle and during that fight his brother was killed.
Tamatea was so grieved over the loss of his brother that he stayed for quite a long time at that place and each morning he would sit on the knoll and play his lament on what is called Koauau or Maori flute.
In the course of his travels Tamatea-Pokai-Whenua left his name upon many geographical features: the most famous of these is a little hill, near Porangahau, Hawke's Bay, called Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauo-tamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu or “the hill where Tamatea-Pokai-Whenua played his flute….”
Tamatea had two wives. His principal wife, Iwirau, was the mother of Kahungunu, the eponymous ancestor of the Ngati Kahungunu; his other wife, Mahakiroa, was the mother of four sons, including Apa, the eponymous ancestor of the Ngati Apa.
Tamatea-Pokai-Whenua, or Tamatea-who-encircled-the-land, is the great land traveller of Maori tradition. He is not to be confused with Tamatea-Ariki-Nui, the captain of Takitimu canoe.
Turipukaka-pikimaunga-tahu was given through his many raids and wanderings and he was such a huge muscular man that his name suited him.
Hence the name Taumata-whaka-tangihanga-koauau-o-Tamatea-turi-pukaka-pikimaunga-horonuku-pokai-whenua-kitana-tahu, which means ‘The hilltop where Tamatea with big knees, conqueror of mountains, eater of land, traveller over land and sea, played his koauau to his beloved.’
This lament is still sung at many tangi.
From the top of the hill, one can see the peak of the Te Awa Putahi, the spiritual ancestral mountain claimed by Ngati kere and, looking inland to the west, the long flat peak of Raekatia, the spiritual mountain there is a pinnacle called — Tetaumatawhakatangihangakoauauorangitane to celebrate Rangitane, the eponymous ancestor of the Tamaki Nui a Rua district.

In Maori society, facial tattoos represent the wearer's ancestral and tribal affiliations. The facial tattoo on this carved figure is known as a ‘Moko’. Moko are designed to display ancestral and tribal messages that apply to the wearer. These messages narrate the wearer's family, sub-tribal and tribal affiliations, and their placing within these social structures. This carving would have been created to commemorate an ancestor.

Longest name of a city-- an excuse for having bad geography.. (I can't remember the names..:D)

Thailand Has World's Longest Place Name
Thailand has beaten challenges from New Zealand and Wales for the world's longest place name. Internet websites in all three countries claim that odd tourist magnet. Let's examine their claims.
WALES boasts a village called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (58 letters), which in English means "Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of Saint Tysilio near the red cave." The locals call it Llanfairpwll (pronounced thlan vire puth). We'll call it L56h.
"The name of this world-famous station and village was created in the early 19th century by a local humourist," says the Tourists to Wales web site.
"The station of Llanfair PG (the usual abbreviation) was the first on Anglesey, and opened in 1848. After a 20-year closure in 1973 to 1993, it re-opened in 1994 having been restored... During your visit you could also have lunch in the 'Sidings Restaurant.'"
An English website, Go! Britannia, says: "Thousands of visitors are attracted yearly to photograph its famous 15 foot long sign found on the railway station platform... (A little secret: as many double letters in English are regarded as single letters in Welsh, the name has only 51 letters)."
Internet sites normally have a maximum of 28 letters but the rules were bent for L56h. Its website says the village was known until the 19th century as Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll – St Mary's church near the pool by the white hazels. To encourage train travellers to stop off, a cobbler suggested stretching the name. Local author John Williams believes that a tailor coined the tongue-twisting name to confuse the English. The website is at: http://llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.co.uk.
NEW ZEALAND
stakes its claim on the Maori name for a hill near Porangahau, Hawkes Bay, which is spelt with either 85 or 92 letters. Visitors climb the hill in four-wheel-drive vehicles. The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel invites them to buy a "Collectors' Longest Place Name Bottle of Hawkes Bay Chardonnay or Cab Merlot."
The hill used to be called Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukaka pikimaunga horonukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu (85 letters). That's a combination of the words taumata (brow of a hill), whakatangihanga (music making), koauau (flute), o (of), tamatea (name of a famous chief), turi pukaka (bony knees), piki maunga (climbing a mountain), horo (slip), nuku (move), pokai whenua (widely travelled), ki (to), tana (his), tahu (beloved).
Hawkes Bay Tourism's Internet site says that Porangahau in New Zealand's South Island, "boasts the longest place name in the world: Tetaumatawhakatangihangakoauaotamateaurehaeaturipukapihimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuaakitanarahu, officially entered in the Guinness Book of Records." That stretches the name to 92 letters.
It says the name means "The place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed, and swallowed mountains, known as land eater, played his flute to his loved one."
After ascending the hill, Gavin Kingsley, of Christchurch, in New Zealand's South Island, photographed a roadsign showing the name. The translation, he says, is "The brow of the hill where Tamatea, with the bony knees, who slid and climbed mountains, the great traveller, sat and played on the flute to his beloved."
With a touch of cynicism, Gavin adds "Local history has it that the part about the knees and climbing mountains was added recently to make the name more interesting."
Seeking on-the-spot information, we e-mailed Winton Hall, owner of Porangahau Lodge, who replied: "Yes, we do in fact have the Longest Place Name in the World at Porangahau. It is no joke. You can check it out in the Guinness Book of Records.
"At the moment there is no real commercial use of the name but this could change in the near future. In the past I have run 4-Wheel Drive Safaris up to the summit of the hill but it has been fairly inaccessible. There is however new access proposed and the local iwi [Maori tribe] may turn it into a commercial attraction."
THAILAND: "Bangkok is a city of extremes and superlatives, a city you do not react to indifferently," says Thailand at a Glance. "Recently declared the world's hottest city by the World Meteorological Organization, it also boasts the world's longest name: Krung-thep-maha-nakorn-boworn-ratana-kosin-mahintar-ayudhya-amaha-dilok-pop-nopa-ratana-rajthani-burirom-udom-rajniwes-mahasat-arn-amorn-pimarn-avatar-satit-sakattiya-visanukam.
"Not surprisingly, only a handful of Thais can remember such a mouthful, although the abbreviated translation of the whole is a relatively brief Jewelled city of the god Indra. However, most Thais simply refer to it as Krung Thep, City Angels."
We sought a ruling from a Bangkok wordsmith, Theppitak Karoonboonyanan who said the correct spelling (163 letters) is Krungthepmahanakornamornratanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilokphopnopparatrajathaniburiromudomrajaniwesmahasatharnamornphimarnavatarnsathitsakkattiyavisanukamprasit.
Theppitak separated the words of K161t and translated them as:
krungthep mahanakorn-The great city of angels,
amorn rattanakosin mahintara yutthaya mahadilok phopthe- supreme unconqueralble land of the great immortal divinity (Indra),
noparat rajathani burirom-the royal capital of nine noble gems, the pleasant city,
udomrajaniwes mahasatharn -with plenty of grand royal palaces,
amorn phimarn avatarnsathit-and divine paradises for the reincarnated deity (Vishnu),
sakkatattiya visanukam prasit-given by Indra and created by the god of crafting (Visnukarma).
"It's a kind of honoring or celebrating in (royal) Thai culture to name long (I couldn't confirm this in terms of historical background, though)," Theppitak said. "King Rama 1, the founder of the city himself, was named yet longer than the name of the city, in his ascending to the throne. Our King Rama 9 (King Bhumipol) also has a long name of a hundred letters.
"The name of the city was given by King Rama 1, the founder of the city, to celebrate the new capital, 219 years ago, after Sukhothai, Ayudhaya, and Thonburi. He moved the capital of the country from Thonburi to a place called Bangkok at that time, and named the new capital as rungthepmahanakhorn. The name has been changed a little by King Rama 4 (King Mongkut) which has been used until now.
"The name Bangkok is still used in international context because it was more familiar to foreigners in the past. In Thai, the city is called Krungthep in short, and is written with an abbreviation sign after it.
"It may be pronounced as Krungthepmahanakorn in some formal occasions. But when we refer to the full name, it's the one with hundreds of letters as mentioned. If you want to get some formal evidence of the name, you may have to ask some governmental offices, or the Royal Palace. The old name Bangkok is only used in foreign languages, or it becomes informal in Thai."
VERDICT: Well, what to make of these claims and counter-claims? To this impartial observer, who has visited the multisyllabic places only on the Internet, the result is:
Third longest place name (bronze medal): WALES.
Second longest (silver medal): NEW ZEALAND.
Gold Award winner: THAILAND. FOOTNOTE: LA, North America's second largest city, undoubtedly has [almost] the world's shortest place name. But a settlement established there in 1781 was known as El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciúncula (The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion). Its official name was El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles. If LA went back to using its 55-letter earliest title, it would be a close fourth for the world's LONGEST place name!

(N I have just shamelessly lifted it,but I promise to be courteous enough to mention the above:) )

'tribute' tattoo.

A 'tribute' by this man to all those who perished in the 9/11 tragedy...I believe this somehow freezes the moment of tragedy, allowing it to linger on in the memories of all around.. On the contrary,I'll totally sympathise if he has lost a loved one in this DREADFUL horror.

astronomical lessons and hope..

knowing that somewhere, far far away, a planet speed dances around a star close enough to orbit it in one day, should provide us all with comfort and a long sighhhhhhhhhh of relief ! this planet has been named WASP-12b, unrelated to the acronym for White Anglos Saxon Protestant, though the announcement was made official by the American Astronomical Society's Division for Planetary Sciences.. what makes this planet a unique survivor is its seemingly fatal attraction to its bright star, making it the hottest planet ever found at over 4000 degrees Farenheit (2200 degrees Celsius)!!! the discovery of such a heavenly body reminds me that its ok to stand close to a burning fire, feel the warmth and absorb its energy !! Lessons abound within nature and the application of universal laws within our own lives, can restore a lost sense of tranquility!! We should praise "change" (not the one that jingles in your pocket) in our lives, no matter how chaotic it may disguise itself as.. we should then imitate the universal "dance steps" observed, allowing ourselves to fully become gratefully PRESENT in the hot brevity of the moment...

According to UNICEF, 26,500-30,000 children die each DAY due to poverty. They, "die quietly in some of the poorest villages on earth, far removed from the scrutiny and the conscience of the world. Being meek and weak in life makes these dying multitudes even more invinsible in death."

About 72 million children of primary school age in the developing world were not in school in 2005; 57 % of them were girls. These are regarded as optimistic numbers.

Zimbabwe

Life in Zimbabwe...AH!!..Zimbabwe,a place little known to a part of the world I live in,heard only as one of the teams playing cricket during international cricket matches..

so..what makes me turn everyone's heads to this little place? answer:

Long before the rooster in their dirt yard crows,a couple are out of bed at 2 20am...they creep past their children sleeping in their one room house and take their daily moonlit stroll to the bank. They were the twenty-ninth to arrive, all hoping for a chance to withdraw the maximum amount of Zimbabwean currency the government allowed last month-the equivalent of just a dollar or two.
Zimbabwe is in the grip of one of the great hyperinflations in world history. The people of this once proud capital have been plunged into a Darwinian struggle to get by.Many have been reduced to peddlers and paupers, hawkers and black market hustlers...eating just a meal or two in a day, their cheeks hollowed, giving a testament to their hunger...
The number of days an average individual has to spend in the line at the bank to withdraw cash to buy them :
a day for a bar of soap
another day for a bag of salt
four days for a sack of cornmeal.
The inflation is an almost unimaginable forty million percent, say economists..
and the Zimbabwean situation is radiating instability to other parts of southern Africa. As the bankrupt government prints even more money, inflation is going wilder and wilder, rising from one thousand percent in 2006 to twelve thousand percent in 2007 to a figure so high that the government has had to lop ten zeros off the currency in August to keep the nation's calculators from being overwhelmed...(had they left the currency alone, one dollar would now be worth about ten trillion Zimbabwean dollars...!!!!!! freaky!!!!)
Zimbabwe's hyperinflation is probably among the worst five of all time, along with Germany in the 1920's,Greece and Hungary in the 1940's and Yugoslavia in 1993.
Cash shortage has the government sending runners into the streets with suitcases of the nation's currency to buy up American dollars and South African rand on the black market-drying up Zimbabwean dollars that would otherwise go to the banks.
Because of this cash shortage, the government strictly limits the amount people can withdraw..even so,Zimbabweans often have to wait in vain for hours at the banks that send away their customers empty-handed.
Economists say that the only thing that can halt Zimbabwe's inflatory spiral is a political solution that takes control over the country's economy out of the hands of Robert Mugabe, the 84-year-old president ,who still maintains a viselike hold on power after 28 years in office. .....and lives in splendor here in a mansion hidden behind high walls...
And here we were getting depressed about our inflation problems...!!!!

big,bad ..BIG/BAD?

so.. the other day,i was back wid my typing activity, writing abt the connection between vegetating sea-cucumbers,n Sponge Bob Square Pants...and y on earth do sea-cucumbers exist (in my opinion,of course)..when BANG..!! the skies came crashing down..n there was LOADSHEDDING...the worst-ever thing known to mankind in all history...remember that word..---LOADSHEDDING..it'll happen.. history keeps repeating itself...:P
and what is this malicious LOADSHEDDING? for one,it's not such a bad thing at all--it's just the govt cutting off electricity to certain parts of the state to save electricity..n these *certain* parts are pre-decided..of course..based on the amount of capital a place generates...and we all know about how low the state is on power reserves...
so,what is the bad thing abt it? the BIG,BAD thing about it is -----NOT BEING INFORMED!!!!!!! can't they just tell us?!.. a li'l credit to them, they do so...on some blue moons...
n for the rest, there are just power generators...hopefully all hospitals have them..!

you would think we've hit jackpot on the slots, but a grimmer reality is at hand : the one day pointage drop in the market rings like a divine number !!! it is a sad day, but we will make lemonade from these lemons that life gifts us.. i myself decided to celebrate by pre-purchasing the new T-mobile G1 "Google" phone being released later this month!! I am a firm believer that knowledge and information is priceless, so any technology that allows me faster and sleeker access to it.. will be mine!!!! the G1 is the FIRST phone hosting the new Google mobile operating system, known as android (in a cool font)!! based on the "Open Handset Alliance", Android aims to bring Internet-style innovation and openness to mobile phones, and will stand proudly as Apple's competition.. though Apple and its so-called "innovative products" promotes a cult-like following amongst elitist wannabe's, its greedy and proprietary business model goes against the supposed "individuality and freedom loving nature" of its followers.. just because you can edit an independent movie faster with an Apple, does not mean you are promoting and fostering creative independence and freedom !! so yes google, i hate the fact you decided to operate in the Chinese market and succomb to the Great Wall of Fire (firewall..jaja).. but i am still happy, you released your first Android phone through T-mobile so I could spoil myself on this miserable day of world financial loss!!!

self rewarding

and this is where I find myself right this second, right now... now.. now.. k, as time passes I sense a deadline approaching, .. but I must come to the present and ignore it.. them.. all one hundred million of them.. !! i am rewarding myself and attempting to make sense of my thoughts by adding bits to the net, it grows as I type, hopefully not towards an eventual explosion, for we are witnessing an economic one right before our earthly eyes.. right this second i transcend time, for time is knocking heavily as the upcoming 72 hours so festively tries to remind me! i will celebrate in anticipation by removing myself from my usual habitat.. a symbolism that the vehicle to my soul is transient and my soul in eternal motion.. it is not I that weighs each celebrated year as a burden, but society, for all expectations yet to be accomplished, all the milestones waiting to be reached, caressed, and admired. see.. time is up and i must depart, until my next encounter with this work in progress, shaped by though and feeling..

on experiments and more...

hi..!!..i'm back after a long hiatus..as a medical student, and one that leads a nomadic life,it becomes a lil difficult to be too loyal to one's blog...a lappietop,as i call it,is another thing on the *WISHLIST*...!!..till, then..m personally committed to writing as much as i can possibly squeeze in..infact,what i am trying to do is-writing bits n pieces throughout the day n just coming n putting them together here..dat saves my time of thinking..(which isn't too much, but ne help is good help!!!)...:)
so..to describe my experience in hypnosis--a very brief hypnosis..done by a close friend of mine on me...well, i am aware of quieter states of the mind(done self-hypnosis before),so this was easier on me,to drift off into the hypnotic state...i undertook it twice, first on 19th sept,n the next on 20th sept...curiosity got the better of me!!..the first time was good..with my friend feeling real *kicked* abt the whole scenario, the importance et al..n she set a paper before me,a questionnaire of sorts which had a set of standardised(she said so) questions to determine what kind of personality i have..(i believe the conclusion wasnt right)..but however, she's the boss now now..!!.. so on we went-
-first the setting of the room was changed-windows shut to block out noise, curtains shut to stop the light n the room dimmed with a small yellow light (nightlamp)..
-next,she set a small spot before me,like 10 feet away,to stare at..(yea..JUST LIKE THE MOVIES..haha)
-n..the moment i looked at the thing..mebe i was too ENTHU abt it,i just went off...POOF..!! like that... with weird thoughts carrying me away..n my body totally numb..
-in the background i cud hear my friend directing me...first clear n then vaguely...(i wont include her spoken content here--trademark rights..:P) ...then vaguer, vaguer (is that a word?!?!)...n then till the time that she was asking me things while i was in that state,n it seemed like a person is talking from a great distance...!! i actually cudn't make out what she's saying...it just seemed like someone's there... n then my thoughts carried me away...it literally felt like i'm piggyriding on my thoughts..!!!! that's the *hashish* effect..i guess!!!
-i had thoughts n visions abt weird gadgets..abt my patients...about some buildings...all disjointed... but d best thing was--I KNEW that this was all a hypnotic thing..like,i KNEW during those thoughts, that these are just those--thoughts..it did feel tempting though,to go with them!!
-i came back to my senses-safe n sound...n if ne of u may ask---JUST LIKE MY OWN SWEET SELF!!! but very very very tired.............
the next session:-
-this was a bit more noisy..there was too much noise to be able to block it out...n too much light too... too much noise in the kitchen...but into hypnotic state-i did go!!! (haha, the craze of inversions!)...
-for an entire 5 minutes,i was into it...n this was funnier--i actually felt my heart was in my hands...like,it felt as if my hands are following the pumping action of the heart, but not so jerky...besides,i felt as if the entire rhythm set by my heart was making my body dance!!!..funny,my friend said she saw my right thumb moving rhythmically..n that wasn;t me...i had gotten totally numb..REMEMBER...?!?.. i mean,it wasnt me consciously moving it...
-n this time,i just woke up suddenly, not feeling the dizziness n extreme tiredness i felt the first time...
overall..it was fun--n i plan to tell one n all--THIS IS NOT BLACKMAGIC!!!!
now m just thinking of ways to pay her fees..!!!

free will or on credit????

the post below was simply beautiful !!! a "stream of consciousness" style reflecting the inner workings of an amazing mind :) my thoughts are fighting amongst each other, struggling for an appropriate response.. what if we have the illusion of control and all this time believed that our destiny was the effect of a random decision disregarding the whole??? ok, so if we believe energy behaves a certain way (laws), from its most basic microscopic form to the macroscopic level.. then, when we take the "whole universe" (spirit and form) into account, choices and decisions, are really based on fixed paths that appeared to be based on "free will".. of course, we are so far from understanding the intricate effects of the entire universe on our daily decisions, that a mere attempt would drive us mad.. thus we remain satisfied with believing that all choices in our lives were under our complete control, when in reality we have picked from a small menu only available to us from our experiences and genetic predisposition (including past life).. do not despair though, our menu options expand daily as we continue growing mentally and emotionally with experience.. i love that!!! "the illusion of control"

observations...random

Now..what i really have on my wishlist (apart from other ooh-la-la inspiring stuff) is a digital camera, preferrably one above a 5megapixel..n i know m not aiming real high with that one..all i want it is for satisfying my personal urge of clicking away people, clicking into space, into void...just plain clicking...!! it sort of satisfies some kind of urge i have in me for analysis--usually related to things and ppl i come in contact wid,n rarely to things i don't c a connection with, for example-i wouldnt go check today's paper to try figure out what that woman in the frying-pan ad may have eaten for dinner...!! .. but i guess, it's normal with everyone, people who you know at a more personal level are fun to analyse..it's fun to look at them in different expressions...even a dog who may not have such a variety of facial contortions to choose from is a briefly interesting subject..

Talking about analysing people n things,i think it's also interseting to check out the gait of different people walking on the campus/road..it's kind of fun to guess what may the person's temperament be,if he/she likes to walk in this "jumping-jack" fashion...or would he/she be more tolerant/intolerant about their surroundings by the way they hold their pencils...so,to think of it,what i'm talking about is body language--the reflection of a person's state of mind manifested into his/her actions..it's really interesting..!!! it's also very important to know that one can't really have these "manifestations" observed in other ppl conform to some kind of material u have had 'by-hearted' by rote...it's really a knack...one should be able to go with the flow of the entire person,be able to try n estimate his cultural, social influences..n other stuff he may be subjected to,his ability to understand his surrounding..etc..to be able to estimate the integrity between his/her thoughts n action..

I guess a person's personality is stamped on his every cell in the body...n i think that's the concept behind the use n effectiveness of the yogic principles, when they're applied to therapy...as everyone knows, yogic science describes different types of people categorised into certain types of personalities-n generalisations are made about what are the diseases or pathology that they may be more susceptible too... makes sense to me.. as i happen to c, in most of the different types of science, people are categorised into different temperaments... name it-yoga,astrology...n everytime i mention astrology--i always make it a point to say that "I DON'T BELIEVE IN FUTURE PREDICTIONS"... they're a waste of my time...i think, even if it *may* be written down somewhere, the power still lies in my hands to accept it,follow it or change it...everything really is a two-way thing..!! .. yes, what it *can* do is,probably based on ur temperaments n the probable defects/lack of certain qualities in a person's personality,it can probably predict what pitfalls one could fall in-which is perfectly logical....

also,i tend to believe that a person'a temperament *IS* changeable,it depends on the frequency that the person is on,or level of being..no,actually "level of being" encompasses a wider area, "frequency" is more easily alterable..

n little did i realise the sway of my thoughts from one topic to another..

i just got reminded that i had wanted to state earlier, that i am DYING to put up some pics here, taken by my own amateurish hands...but i'm still waiting--for a digital camera that still lies on my wishlist...:(

p.s.- the "sway" is quite forgiveable, since i just came online t post something on the blog,n not let it run dry of "bunches of meaningless words strewn all over the page.." ..:))))

Marilyn- thru the eyes of Ayn Rand

Through Your Most Grievous Fault
August 19, 1962 - Los Angeles Times
The death of Marilyn Monroe shocked people, with an impact different from their reaction to the death of any other movie star or public figure. All over the world people felt a peculiar sense of personal involvement and of protest, like a universal cry of "Oh, no!"
They felt that her death had some special significance, almost like a warning which they could not decipher...and they felt a nameless apprehension, the sense that something terribly wrong was involved.
They were right to feel it.
Marilyn Monroe, on the screen, was an image of pure, innocent, childlike joy in living. She projected the sense of a person born and reared in some radiant Utopia, untouched by suffering, unable to conceive of ugliness or evil, facing like with the confidence, the benevolence and the joyous self-flaunting-flaunting of a child or a kitten who is happy to display its own attractiveness as the best gift it can offer the world, and who expects to be admired for it, not hurt.
In real life, Marilyn Monroe's suicide...or worse: a suicide that might have been an accident, suggesting that, to her, the difference did not matter...was a declaration that we live in a world which made it impossible for her kind of spirit, and for the things she represented, to survive.
If there ever was a victim of society, Marilyn Monroe was that victim...of a society that professes dedication to the relief of the suffering, but kills the joyous.
None of the objects of the humanitarians' tender solicitude, the juvenile delinquents, could have had so sordid and horrifying a childhood as did Marilyn Monroe.
To survive it and to preserve the kind of spirit she projected on the screen...the radiantly benevolent sense of life, which cannot be faked...was an almost inconceivable psychological achievement that required a heroism of the highest order. Whatever scars her past had left were insignificant by comparison.
She preserved her vision of life through a nightmare struggle, fighting her way to the top. What broke her was the discovery, at the top, of as sordid an evil as the one she had left behind...worse, perhaps, because incomprehensible. She had expected to reach the sunlight; she found, instead, a limitless swamp of malice.
It was a malice of a very special kind. If you want to see her groping struggle to understand it, read the magnificent article in a recent issue of Life magazine. It is not actually an article, it is a verbatim transcript of her own words...and the most tragically revealing document published in many years. It is a cry for help, which came too late to be answered.
"When you're famous, you kind of run into human nature in a raw kind of way," she said. "It stirs up envy, fame does. People you run into feel that, well, who is she...who does she think she is, Marilyn Monroe? They feel fame gives them some kind of privilege to walk up to you and say anything to you, you know, of any kind of nature...and it won't hurt your feelings...like it's happening to you clothing...I don't understand why people aren't a little more generous with each other. I don't like to say this, but I'm afraid there is a lot of envy in this business."
"Envy" is the only name she could find for the monstrous thing she faced, but it was much worse than envy: it was the profound hatred of life, of success and of all human values, felt by a certain kind of mediocrity...the kind who feels pleasure on hearing about a stranger's misfortune. It was hatred of the good for being the good...hatred of ability, of beauty, of honesty, of earnestness, of achievement and, above all, of human joy.
Read the Life article to see how it worked and what it did to her.
An eager child, who was rebuked for her eagerness..."Sometimes the (foster) families used to worry because I used to laugh so loud and so gay; I guess they felt it was hysterical."
A spectacularly successful star, whose employers kept repeating: "Remember you're not a star," in a determined effort, apparently not to let her discover her own importance.
A brilliantly talented actress, who was told by the alleged authorities, by Hollywood, by the press, that she could not act.
An actress, dedicated to her art with passionate earnestness..,"When I was 5...I think that's when I started wanting to be an actress...I loved to play. I didn't like the world around me because it was kind of grim...but I loved to play house and it was like you could make your own boundaries"...who went through hell to make her own boundaries, to offer people the sunlit universe of her own vision..."It's almost having certain kinds of secrets for a moment, when you're acting"...but who was ridiculed for her desire to play serious parts.
A woman, the only one, who was able to project the glowingly innocent sexuality of a being from some planet uncorrupted by guilt...who found herself regarded and ballyhooed as a vulgar symbol of obscenity...and who still had the courage to declare: "We are all born sexual creatures, thank God, but it's a pity so many people despise and crush this natural gift."
A happy child who was offering her achievement to the world, with the pride of an authentic greatness and of a kitten depositing a hunting trophy at your feet...who found herself answered by concerted efforts to negate, to degrade, to ridicule, to insult, to destroy her achievement...who was unable to conceive that it was her best she was punished for, not her worst...who could only sense, in helpless terror, that she was facing some unspeakable kind of evil.
How long do you think a human being could stand it?
That hatred of values has always existed in some people, in any age or culture. But a hundred years ago, the would have been expected to hide it. Today, it is all around us; it is the style and fashion of our century.
Where would a sinking spirit find relief from it?
The evil of a cultural atmosphere is made by all those who share it. Anyone who has ever felt resentment against the good for being the good and has given voice to it, is the murderer of Marilyn Monroe.

More on art.

i keep seeing art of the great masters n what it was, n as Socrates would say- a thing of great beauty inspiring wisdom, the lines making u at once sensitive and profound, truly a work of art inspired hope for tomorrow, something which would make one look up to qualities of patience, hard work,simplicity,beauty.....
each line speaks of the artist's inner soul....where is that soul today????(a copy of a copy, a copy of a concept,a copy of a style), a new age style induced by distortions/drugs/inner devils....states conveyed very aptly by some artists, do they instill a sense of aesthetics which was what art was set to achieve in the first place?

Art-i-farts..:P

what's wrong with the arty-farty world??! no one knws what's art except a few chosen ppl (m not one of them)...who decide whether a spitting session can resemble art..or it becomes art AFTER UR DEAD...or exiled to a foreign country (where a simply "bindi" put on the forehead by every maharashtrian woman in the morning,a perfect circle applied on the forehead-of powdered sindhoor)becomes a work of art by a famous artist turned BINDU..-the endless .... n so on....and fetches millions of rupees..n so that what happens to all the circles,n squares n triangles..n doodles resembling those of little retarded children (sorry for my keen n mean observations..) n ppl willing to payyyyyy..rather than donate to farmers committing suicide..Tell me,dear folks, would ya'll seriously die an empty death..:P :P :P, if ya don't have a PAINTING RESEMBLING dog pee or a depressed pre-historic woman, on ur walls...
i actually read abt celebs calling in art curators/dealers to advise them where to buy, what to buy/invest..whereas..they don't really have these probs buying ice cream cones or property..!!soooo... WHERE'S UR PERSONAL TASTE,man? n never pray for artists' long life... n if ne one sings a song out of tune or makes burnt pancakes, they're not gonna get paid..but it works the other way 'round in art... the worse/more grotesque/distorted,the more ur paid for the damn things...m not being very stiff, but there's a limit to what u can stretch people's sensitivity to...n sensibility too...!!

off the cuff.......

the world is expanding at the corners (i havent discovered the world is round yet)..n ppl r gonna fall out from d planet after creating so much of gas (methane..plz pronounce that as "maythaanay"-just this once).. n so much of bombing, not helping things at all....!! except..kicking out the wrong kind of guys.. n brining in the anti-Christ...!! there's only one thing that nature can do-send some rain n fill the rivers with water that will reduce fertility n help population control n help cloning...n less ppl on earth...

reflection..

we are reminded today of our innocence and frailty.. how by the minds of few and without comprehension of the truth, destiny is altered pushing us into greater consciousness of who we choose to be and how we wish to get there.. we are reminded of the ego's fear for extinction, our own internal battles for illusory recognition, and the towers we are willing to sacrifice for our meaningless cry.. i choose a mandala to remind me that behind the embers of chaos and fear, a peaceful truth infinitely awaits, the permanent fabric on which all illusions eventually settle.. to a tranquil rest.. i am reminded today, that as the smoke clears, i awaken to a new vision, a clear realization, a need to forgive the battles within and the wars outside..

nokia concept phone

in my continuous search for all that causes the wow ( :o)!!!) sensation within me, i happen to stumble upon a seemingly 'out of this world' concept phone which sports all of the unique features of nanotechnology! straight out of sci-fi films such as Blade Runner, Minority Report, as well as 'future is coming' books and 'zines i fascinated over as a child, this phone begins to 'ring in a truth' i would have skeptically dismissed when younger.. hopefully in my next life I can be wearing one of these suckers sitting in an outdoor cafe for six hours staring at an apple (the fruit) !!! i can just imagine two of these nano phones becoming close friends and wanting to bend together in unusual positions to share each other's energy and knowledge.. just make sure you keep your phone's nano lawn properly trimmed before leavin home to the outdoor cafe!!! for now, i remain proud of my antique touchscreen t-mobile phone with its fingertip oil streaks, chocolate stains, and lingering cigarette stench from my past smoking days... a self cleaning phone before a self-cleaning bathtub?? somebody has their inventions twisted!! jajaja

Is this the 'Further Bus' of the East? free hallucinogens.. all aboard !!!

time for my daily dose..

so i happened to have the honour of watching "The Moment of Truth" on Star World the other night...n i really don't wanna comment on the type of questions asked to the poor, unsuspecting married woman there..(no,i don't pity her..:P.. she WANTED it, she insisted)...what sort of thing is that supposed to be?.. y am i supposed to have lie detectors on me n answer questions that i wudnt even speak abt to myself!!...not for money she said...LIAR..!!.. now if i were going to die tomorrow, n really wanted to scr*w up my marriage n wanted to donate all that earned money (assuming i actually earn the money, unlike that poor, unsuspecting soul who lost them..now..probably there she deserves a trifle of my sympathy!!!) to charity in Indonesia, then yes.. it makes perfect sense...
N THEY actually call her ex-bf to ask her those questions, with whom she was allegedly cheating on her hubby sweetest?..now i know, she may have gone through a massive guilt-attack to sign up for a thorough 'wash in the Ganges'... but .. this is CRAZY...! masochistic idiot...question no.1 is.. y did she DO all those mischievious things in d first place?.. or atleast one can be a bit classy abt confessions u know?!?!?!... make that poor thing of a husband seem like a total jackass in the entire world.. bet his friends were watching "the guy n his love" thru their few minutes of fame!!
so..btw.. the ques is directed to d makers of this show...seeking to give the audience some thrills?... may be everyone's just plain bored..like WHAT THRILL was that?.. i really don't wanna know which brand of diapers does ur baby wear.. wht difference to me?!.. of course, there r things n there r takers...n i really wudnt remember wht i just typed here today!!.. we had this show here called "Bluffmaster" ..probably a copy of some other show..but this one over here had a group of equal number of males n females, all small time TV stars, to stand behind boxes n vote on questions..which wud often be like " how many ppl in india/world like to do this n that.." etc etc... didnt feel like somebody's breathing down ur neck..!.. ne way... may be we can atleast encounter all the drama on the show till then!.. (n it wud be sic to know all that's rigged..:P) ..

ah.. n of d many wonders of the world..

)) milagros ((

Main Entry:
mir·a·cle
Pronunciation:
\ˈmir-i-kəl\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin miraculum, from Latin, a wonder, marvel, from mirari to wonder at
Date:
12th century
1: an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs
2
: an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing, or accomplishment
3
Christian Science : a divinely natural phenomenon experienced humanly as the fulfillment of spiritual law
_____________________________________________________________

resulting from preconceived ideas of what 'miracles' are, their manifestation, and their dimensions, we lose sight of the everyday magic that as 'creatures of habit', often take for granted !!!

evidenced in my own life and witnessed in that of others, a mere transformation of thought (perception), followed by behavior, is sufficient enough to be hailed as nothing less than miraculous !!!

the idea that neural paths can be re-wired from firmly established networks to weak and vulnerable paths through reward processes beyond our understanding is proof that our limited scientific tools for observation fail .. bringing the light of awareness to our thought processes is a necessary beginning for the invisible transformative power of change to take effect.. regardless of the permanence and depth of established neural patterns!!!

this is the miracle : as we effectuate growth within us, so then our material realities follow... the divine gently touches and embraces emanations from our shift in consiousness!! so much has been written about this that i am most likely "preaching to the choir".. but it remains my experience that seeking the Truth requires repetition and practice.. hence within the word Spiritual, not-so-secretly hides the word 'ritual'..

opinions and experiences are welcomed :) ......................

Y-Ikes !!!

For the second time in a month Cuba is targeted by a major hurricane and the world continues to be kept in silence as to the devastating impact on the Cuban people...

Hands of the Nephelae

babies as punishment ???

"When it comes specifically to HIV/AIDS, the most important prevention is education, which should include -- which should include abstinence education and teaching the children -- teaching children, you know, that sex is not something casual. But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby. I don't want them punished with an STD at the age of 16. You know, so it doesn't make sense to not give them information."

who would express themselves so profoundly to label a choice, a "mistake" ???
